UGK "UGK 4 Life"
Since
this is the last UGK album to be released, I was antiscipating a
much better record. It seems like all the songs are about pimpin',
ballin', sex, hustlin', or just livin' the hood life. To many that
may sound like just what you want. If so, this is a must have
album, featuring Akon, Ron Isley, 8Ball & MJG, Snoop, and
more. Their last album, "Underground Kingz," was a
classic. This one falls short of that success. We give it 3 out of 5 flames.
Charlie Wilson "Uncle Charlie"
My first impression was this album sounded like an incredible
combination of The Gap Band, Timberland, R. Kelly, Ron Browz, Dr.
Dre, and T-Pain all rolled into one incredible project. And it
works! The first track "Musta Heard" might be the best
joint on the album. It's a bonafied club banger but there are lots
of other songs that got my attention for a variety of reasons.
"Shawty Come Back" makes me think about how far Uncle
Charlie goes back and that in his 30+ years in the business he
sounds just as fresh as ever. "Can't Live Without You"
is the perfect grown folks dance tune with a catchy mid-tempo
groove. "Love, Love Love" is slow jam that will be a
smash hit on the radio. And the tracks featuring Snoop Dogg,
T-Pain, and Jamie Foxx will also find it's way inside many night
clubs and radio mix shows. We give it 4 out of 5 flames.

Ashford & Simpson "The Real Thing"
The
influence this duet had on some of the greatest r&b and soul
music ever recorded over the past 40+ years is undeniable. The CD
(also available on DVD) is a must have for any Ashford &
Simpson fan. The same applies for any fan of the old Motown music
because they wrote some of their biggest hits including "Ain't
Nothing Like The Real Thing," "Your Precious Love,"
"Ain't No Mountain High Enough," and more. You'll find
those classics and many more they wrote or recorded themselves
like "Found A Cure," "Solid," and more on this
disc. Nick and Valerie are icons in the music industry and it's a
pleasure to get one more reminder of their greatness in this
special project. We give it 4 out of 5 flames.

"Now That's What I Call Motown" (various artists)
In
the wake of Motown Records 50th Anniversary comes a stellar
selection of classic Motown hits featured on this newly released
CD. The memories, the melodies, the superstar artists, and the
great music is all here on one disc. There seems to be at least
one song from all of the legendary Motown artists from the 60's
through the 80's, including The Temptations, The Supremes, Marvin
Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Marvelettes, Rick James, The Jackson
Five, and much more. With 25 finger snapping dance tunes, and
romantic slow grooves, it's one of the best collections available
today. The music is absolutely timeless.
We give it 4.5 out of 5 flames.
